About Saint Croix
The United States Pony Clubs, Inc., develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding and mounted sports.
St. Croix Pony Club, an educational organization, teaches riding, mounted sports and the care of horses and ponies. Pony Club helps develop the individual's sense of responsibility, moral judgment, leadership, and self-confidence. Children learn all aspects of good horsemanship, as well as a mounted education; graduates of the program are well equipped to manage the care and training of a horse. St. Croix Pony Club is part of the Sunshine Region, that covers the U.S. Virgin Islands and portions of Florida and Georgia. St. Croix Pony Club is a charter member of the US Pony Clubs, established in 1967 and serving the local community for nearly 60 years.
"STX" is a preferred way to write the name of our beautiful island, situated about 35 miles south of its more famously known sister, St. Thomas-USVI. Our club is located along the West End of STX, north of Frederiksted. We meet every Saturday morning for riding lessons and the study of horse management; however, we reserve each first Saturday of the month for our members to help maintain our facility.
USPC Pony Clubs and Riding Centers are assigned to one of 41 geographical regions, which are administered by a volunteer Regional Supervisor (RS) and other appointed and elected officers. Regions offer additional activities and opportunities for members and support for the club and center leaders under their administration.
